He
is most interested in the treatment of Diabetes. He has helped hundreds of Type 2 diabetics to avoid insulin
injections with proper education and judicious use of tablets. In a
study presented at Diabetes in Asia Conference- 2001 he has shown
that upto 80% of the Type 2 diabetics on Insulin could be taken off
Insulin with his approach. Another
area of his interest is Cardiology. His thesis work in Cardiology was
presented at a Cardiology conference in Taiwan. Due to his interest in
lung diseases, he has imported the latest PC based Spirometer, which can
also estimate the risk in people who have family history of Asthma or
COPD or are smokers. It also estimates how much reduction can be
expected on stopping smoking. People with undiagnosed or uncontrolled
breathlessness benefit as it helps in diagnosis and optimising
treatment. He is also
interested in Gastrointestinal and liver problems and does endoscopy
and ultrasound scanning. He believes that practising medicine is
as much an art as it is a science and in the role of the mind in the
causation of many diseases. Social
Service has been a part of his life. He was a member of the Student
Christian Movement and attended several work camps in the remote
villages of Tamil Nadu when he was a student at CMC, Vellore. While in
India he used to conduct at least one free clinic per month. In Kuwait
he has conducted 6 free clinics over the last 12 months and is willing
to help any social organisation wanting to hold free medical camps.
