I.O.M.F FAMILY

A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF OUR ACTIVITIES

Who are we?

FOUNDED in 1972, Indian Orthodox Mercy Fellowship (IOMF) is an authorized Charity wing of the St. Gregorios Indian Orthodox Parish at Kuwait. Membership is limited to the Parishioners who are living in the State of Kuwait. Currently we have 36 Members who are dedicated to our cause. The Membership is limited enabling us to meet at our homes at regular intervals.

What do we do?

The main activities of the Organization are centered around assisting the less fortunate individuals who are financially helpless. Even though the epicentre of our activities is the state of Kerala, as of recent, IOMF has made arrangements to reach out to the Central Indian State of Madhya Pradesh by providing assistance to backward people in remote villages through the "Makkodia Village Development Program".

What are our Aid Packages?

Housing Aid: Own House is still a dream for many destitute in rural India. We provide financial assistance towards building of small houses within the set budget. The housing aid is for people who cannot afford to make their dream come true.

Marriage Aid: With poor families in India, marrying off their daughters is one of the biggest burdens of a life time. We try to help out by providing for the marriage expenses within our budget. Many girls were able to find partners in life utilizing the aid package.

Medical Aid: For the poorest, getting financial aid at the most critical hour of need is really a life saving treat. Our extended hands give solace to many destitute poor who are sick and forgotten. Medical Aid is always given priority by our Members.

Education Aid: There are a lot of bright students out there who are extremely poor to afford the cost of their higher studies. They struggle to come up and lack the means to support themselves. We at IOMF are aware of the plight of these poor students and have a bit of solace for many of them.

Self-employment Aid: Finding a job or a means to live is a dream for many. We are there to help out the desperate few who wish to start a small venture of there own. We work at the grass-root level and limit our help to the poorest of the poor by helping in small venture which can be handled by the person himself.

How do we do it?

We raise the funds solely by means of voluntary contributions of members, well-wishers and Patrons. In addition, payment of tithe is also an accepted practice among members. The funds are kept in designated Bank Accounts and Members gather monthly to meet together, review and screen the applications for Aid. Necessary inquiries are made through the sources of IOMF where needed and applications are approved on merit. The aid amount is dispatched to the recipient. The decision of the IOMF General Body with respect to award of Aid is final.

Who do we help?

We extend help to poor and destitute irrespective of cast, religion or creed. However, due to the very limited funds available with us, the selection of applicants deserving help is solely at the discretion of Members of IOMF.

How to apply for Help?

Applications from individuals detailing their background and specifying the category of Aid may be sent to The Secretary, Indian Orthodox Mercy Fellowship (IOMF), P.O.Box: 5825, Safat 13059, Kuwait. All Applications must be certified or recommended by the nearest Parish Priest of Indian Orthodox Syrian Church. In addition, Medical Aid Applications must be accompanied by a Medical Certificate from approved Medical Practitioner. Housing Aid Applications must accompany a copy of "tax paid receipt" to prove that the Applicant has own piece of land to build the house. Marriage Aid Applications may be approved in advance, but Aid will be provided once the Marriage is proven fixed.

How can you join us?

First and foremost, remember us in your Prayers. You can also join our activities by sponsoring Aid in a particular category. Donations are welcome and will be used for specific cases if desired so. Please contact us to find out what else you can do to join hands with IOMF in taking care of the destitute.
